The final museum tour of 2016 will be on October 30. Join us in 2017 when we resume public tours in February.
The Shadelands Ranch house and grounds are open to the public for docent-led tours each week from February through October. The Museum is closed on all major public holidays.
We are closed to the public for private events on the following Sundays: 4/16

The Historical Society charges a nominal admission fee.
- Adults: $3
- Students (ages 6-17): $1
- Children (ages 5 and younger): Free

Group and Private Tours
Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more people or for those with special needs. Group tours are restricted to no more than 30 people. Private tours also can be scheduled. Contact the Shadelands Ranch.
For visitors with special needs: All of the grounds and the first floor of the house are fully accessible to those with physical disabilities. In addition, the Museum offers supplementary materials, including videos and photos, to ensure that those with special needs are able to enjoy the features of the second floor.
Other Historic Sites and Tours
The City of Walnut Creek owns and maintains Borges Ranch, an historic cattle ranch from the early 1900s. A site on the National Register of Historic Places, the Ranch includes a blacksmith shop, numerous outbuildings, farm equipment displays, and a barn. The ranch is open to the public.
